NEW DELHI: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday said Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Independence Day address laid out a roadmap for building a developed India and would serve as an important milestone in the country’s journey towards self-reliance and growth.
In a post on X, Shah said the Prime Minister’s address from the Red Fort on the 80th Independence Day focused on the vision of a Viksit Bharat driven by the principles of “Nation First”, a drug-free India and a secure India.
He said Modi highlighted progress made over the past 12 years in sectors such as semiconductors, critical minerals, energy and railways, while presenting the concept of Saptadhara or seven pillars of strength aimed at strengthening self-reliance and accelerating development.
Shah also referred to the announcements made during the address, including AI skill training for more than one crore youth, the creation of a free online coaching network for students, a talent hunt programme linked to India’s preparations for the 2036 Olympics, and targets related to nuclear power generation and semiconductor manufacturing.
In a separate post, the Home Minister said it was a historic moment to hear Vande Mataram sung from the ramparts of the Red Fort during the Independence Day celebrations.
He said the song, which played a significant role in India’s freedom movement, was rendered from the Red Fort for the first time since Independence and described the moment as emotionally moving.
