Srinagar: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma on Thursday met several delegations in Srinagar and reviewed issues related to public service delivery and departmental functioning across Kashmir.
According to an official statement, the delegations raised concerns related to food supplies, transport connectivity, sports infrastructure and the functioning of Common Service Centres (CSCs), seeking the Minister’s intervention in addressing public grievances.
Issues pertaining to the availability, distribution and supply of essential commodities, particularly in remote areas, were also highlighted during the meeting. Sharma stressed the need to ensure uninterrupted availability of essential goods and directed that genuine public grievances be examined at the appropriate level.
The delegations also sought improvements in public transport services and connectivity in various parts of Kashmir. The Minister said an efficient transport network was vital for students, employees, traders and patients, and called for better route planning, rational deployment of resources and strengthening of services in underserved areas.
Sports infrastructure and promotion of sporting activities also figured in the discussions. Sharma emphasised that sports facilities should be expanded beyond urban centres and made accessible to youth in rural areas. He underscored the need to strengthen existing infrastructure and create more opportunities for young athletes at the grassroots level.
A separate deputation representing CSC operators apprised the Minister of issues concerning the functioning and service conditions of Common Service Centres.
Sharma acknowledged the role of CSCs in delivering digital and citizen-centric services, particularly in rural and remote areas, and assured the delegation that their concerns would be examined in consultation with the concerned authorities and addressed as per existing rules and policies.
