Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police (IGP) Jammu Bhim Sen Tuti on Wednesday reviewed arrangements for the Independence Day 2026 celebrations at Maulana Azad Stadium here.
The officers inspected the venue and reviewed arrangements for the event in the presence of senior civil administration and police officials, including Deputy Commissioner Jammu, Commissioner Jammu Municipal Corporation, SSP Security, SSP Jammu and SSP Traffic Jammu.
Kumar directed the departments concerned to ensure uninterrupted power supply, adequate drinking water, seating, sanitation, cleanliness, barricading, security and other essential facilities at the venue.
He asked the agencies to complete all arrangements well in advance and ensure adequate facilities for participants, invitees, students, cultural groups and the general public.
Traffic authorities were directed to prepare a comprehensive traffic management plan covering vehicular movement, parking, diversions and traffic regulation before, during and after the celebrations.
The Divisional Commissioner also directed departments to keep contingency arrangements ready in case of rain or other adverse weather conditions, including alternative arrangements for participants and guests.
Police and security agencies were asked to ensure security, crowd management, adequate deployment of personnel and access control at and around the venue.
The officers also reviewed arrangements for entry and exit points, seating, medical facilities, emergency response, fire safety, sanitation and public conveniences.
Kumar directed all departments and agencies to maintain close coordination to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of the Independence Day celebrations.
