Jammu: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar and Inspector General of Police (Jammu Zone) Bhim Sen Tuti on Thursday reviewed arrangements for the smooth and secure conduct of the Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra, scheduled to commence on August 17 from Bhagwati Nagar base camp.
The meeting discussed the movement plan, security arrangements, traffic regulation, road maintenance and availability of essential services and facilities for pilgrims along the Yatra route.
Senior officers, including Deputy Commissioners of Jammu, Rajouri, Poonch and Reasi, SSP Jammu, SSP Traffic Jammu, SSP NHW, Director Health Services Jammu and officers from police, traffic and civil departments, attended the meeting in person and virtually.
The Divisional Commissioner directed all departments to complete their assigned tasks well in advance and ensure close coordination to facilitate the safe and comfortable movement of pilgrims.
The IGP asked traffic and security agencies to regulate the movement of buses and private vehicles according to the approved schedule and route plan to avoid congestion and inconvenience to the public.
Road conditions along the Yatra route were also reviewed, with concerned agencies directed to undertake necessary repairs, improve road surfacing and address vulnerable spots before the commencement of the pilgrimage.
The meeting stressed the need for adequate healthcare and emergency response arrangements. Health authorities were directed to ensure the availability of ambulances, medical teams and other essential facilities at designated locations along the route.
Deputy Commissioners and other officers briefed the meeting on the preparations made in their respective districts and assured that all arrangements would be completed before the Yatra begins.
Ramesh Kumar also directed district administrations to hold meetings with stakeholders and concerned departments to finalise arrangements and ensure coordinated execution of plans. He emphasised safety, security, disciplined movement of pilgrims and public convenience as key priorities.
Representatives of civil society organisations, including Baba Shri Buddha Amarnath Ji Yatra Niyas, VHP and Bajrang Dal, also attended the meeting and shared suggestions for the smooth conduct of the Yatra.
