Srinagar: The Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel and a large number of school children took out a Tiranga Rally through the city on Tuesday, ahead of Independence Day.
The rally, which began from Palladium Chowk, was part of the ‘Har Ghar Tiranga’ campaign.
The participants, carrying the national flag and playing patriotic songs, traversed through Lal Chowk and Regal Chowk, before the rally culminated at the Ghanta Ghar.
Speaking to reporters, CRPF Assistant Commandant Prahlad Singh said the rally was aimed at inculcating a sense of patriotism among the youth.
“We always carry this feeling that we have to do something for the country, and safeguard it. Through this rally, we want to inculcate the feelings of patriotism in the youth. Youth should also understand that people have made sacrifices to achieve their freedom and this flag, and respect those,” Singh said.
A Tiranga rally was also held in Shopian town in south Kashmir today.
“As part of the Har Ghar Tiranga Campaign-2026, a grand Tiranga Bike Rally was held in Shopian to celebrate the spirit of patriotism and encourage citizens to proudly display and honour the national flag,” an official spokesperson said.
He said the rally was flagged off by Shopian Deputy Commissioner Shishir Gupta and SSP Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary, who also joined the rally and rode alongside the participants, leading the patriotic procession through the town.
The event was attended by senior district administration officials and police officers, the spokesperson said.
The rally commenced from District Police Lines, Shopian, and passed through the designated route covering Batapora Bus Stand, Four Way Chowk, Clock Tower, Hospital Road and Police Station Road, before returning via Batapora Bus Stand and culminating in the police lines.
The rally was organised jointly by the district administration and the police.
Motorcycles carrying the national flag moved through the town, creating a vibrant patriotic atmosphere and conveying the message of national unity, pride and collective participation in the campaign, the spokesperson said l.
The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials, youth and others, who joined the rally with the tricolour, reflecting their commitment to the values of unity, patriotism and national pride, he added.
