Jammu police chief directs heightened alert, intensified checking ahead of Independence Day

Jammu: Jammu Zone Inspector General of Police Bhim Sen Tuti on Saturday directed police and security officers to maintain the highest level of alertness and intensify security measures across the region to ensure peaceful Independence Day celebrations next week.

The directions were passed at a high-level security review meeting at the zonal police headquarters here.

The meeting was co-chaired by Inspector General of BSF, Jammu frontier, Asif Jalal and Inspector General, CRPF Jammu Sector, Amol V Homkar, a police spokesperson said.

He said the deliberations at the meeting focused on the overall security scenario, threat assessment, anti-terror measures, area domination, intelligence coordination, border security, protection of vital installations, traffic management, deployment planning and contingency preparedness for the Independence Day celebrations.

The Jammu police chief directed all officers to maintain the highest level of alertness and ensure seamless coordination among all security agencies.

He emphasised strengthening intelligence gathering, enhancing surveillance of sensitive areas, intensifying checking operations and ensuring robust security arrangements at all venues of public functions, the spokesperson said.

He said special emphasis was laid on inter-agency coordination, quick response capabilities, communication preparedness and implementation of comprehensive security protocols to ensure peaceful and secure celebrations throughout the Jammu Zone.

The meeting was attended by senior officers from the Central Armed Police Forces, Army, Jammu and Kashmir Police and Central Intelligence Agencies, the spokesman said.
