The Commissioner Secretary inspected various components of the facility and stressed the need to maintain high standards of quality, hygiene and environmental sustainability. She directed the executing agencies to ensure the project is completed and commissioned at the earliest without compromising approved specifications.

Commissioner Secretary, Social Welfare, Sarmad Hafeez, Chief Town Planner Kashmir, Chief Engineer, Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED), Joint Commissioner (Works), Srinagar Municipal Corporation and other senior officers accompanied her during the inspection.

Later, Kaur led a plantation drive in and around the Septage Treatment Plant (STP) at Allochi Bagh as part of the government’s environmental conservation initiatives.

A large number of saplings were planted to increase green cover around the facility and improve the local environment.

Speaking on the occasion, Kaur said environmental sustainability should remain an integral part of urban infrastructure development. She said plantation drives help improve urban green spaces, reduce pollution and contribute to climate resilience while creating a healthier environment.

Officials said the government is focusing on strengthening urban infrastructure alongside environmental conservation, adding that timely completion of key civic projects and sustained green initiatives would contribute to a cleaner and more resilient Srinagar.
