ANANTNAG: The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, on Wednesday launched a two-day Integrated Communication and Outreach Programme (ICOP) on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan at Government Model Higher Secondary School (GMHSS), Kokernag.
The programme was inaugurated by Sub-Divisional Magistrate (SDM) Kokernag, Parvaiz Rahim, and attended by students, teachers, parents, government officials and members of the local community.
According to the organisers, experts from the Health, Social Welfare and School Education departments, along with the local administration, delivered sessions on the objectives of the anti-drug campaign, covering the causes, consequences, prevention, treatment and rehabilitation of substance abuse.
Field Publicity Officer Shahid Mohammad Lone highlighted the Central Bureau of Communication’s role in creating awareness about government programmes and stressed the importance of timely dissemination of authentic information to combat drug abuse. He also emphasised the role of parents and teachers in identifying early signs of addiction among young people.
Field Publicity Officer, CBC Srinagar, Naseer Ahmad Rather said the bureau would continue to take the message of the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan to villages, schools and communities through awareness campaigns and outreach programmes. He called for greater public participation in efforts to tackle substance abuse.
Addressing the gathering, SDM Kokernag Parvaiz Rahim said the district administration remained committed to curbing drug abuse and trafficking. He urged young people to focus on education, sports and other constructive activities, saying collective efforts were essential to achieve a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir.
