SRINAGAR: Member of Legislative Assembly (MLA) Javaid Ahmad Mirchal on Tuesday met Minister for Jal Shakti, Forest, Ecology and Environment, and Tribal Affairs, Javed Ahmed Rana, and discussed various development issues concerning his constituency.
During the meeting, the legislator sought augmentation of drinking water supply, strengthening of irrigation infrastructure, flood protection measures and execution of other public utility works. He requested the Minister to facilitate their early resolution.
In a separate meeting, a delegation of the Contractors’ Association engaged under the Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM) apprised the Minister of issues related to pending payments under the scheme. The delegation sought timely release of funds to ensure smooth execution of drinking water infrastructure projects across the Union Territory.
Following the meeting, Rana reviewed the matter with senior officials and directed them to expedite the processing of legitimate payment claims. He said avoidable delays should not affect the implementation of Jal Jeevan Mission works.
The Minister assured both the legislator and the contractors’ delegation that their genuine demands would be addressed in a time-bound manner, reiterating the government’s commitment to strengthening public infrastructure and ensuring the effective implementation of development projects across Jammu and Kashmir.
