Jammu: The Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board has extended rehabilitation help worth around Rs 40 lakh to nearly 200 families whose houses were damaged in the July 19 flash floods and heavy rain in Rajouri and Poonch districts, officials said on Thursday.
The assistance, provided under the Shrine Board’s social support initiative, was extended on the directions of Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board (SMVDSB) Chairman and Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, officials said.
According to officials, each rehabilitation package contains essential shelter and household items, including bedding, utensils, and food, which have been handed over to the district administration for distribution among affected families.
The Shrine Board ensured the timely dispatch of relief material so that the district administration could deliver assistance to the beneficiaries at the earliest.
Officials said the initiative reaffirms the Shrine Board’s commitment to humanitarian service during times of distress. The board also undertook similar relief work last year, helping families affected by natural calamities in Reasi and Udhampur districts, they said.
