Assembly panel reviews CAG audit findings on JKPDC, JAKEDA

Srinagar: The Committee on Public Undertakings (PUC) of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly on Wednesday reviewed the Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) audit observations relating to the Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC) and the Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA).

The meeting, chaired by Pawan Kumar Gupta at the Legislative Assembly Complex here, examined the audit paras contained in the CAG Audit Reports for 2018-19 and 2020-21. Committee members Mian Mehar Ali, Reyaz Ahmad Khan and Rafiq Ahmad Naik were present.

According to officials, the Committee reviewed the audit observations concerning the functioning of JKPDC and JAKEDA, focusing on the status of compliance, corrective measures taken by the agencies and progress made in addressing the issues flagged in the audit reports.

The Committee directed the officers to ensure timely compliance with the CAG’s recommendations and stressed the need to strengthen internal financial controls, improve operational efficiency and enhance institutional accountability.

It also emphasised the importance of proactively addressing audit observations to promote transparency, prudent financial management and effective utilisation of public resources.

Additional Chief Secretary, Power Development Department; Managing Directors of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Jammu and Kashmir Power Development Corporation (JKPDC), Jammu and Kashmir Power Transmission Corporation Limited (JKPTCL) and Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL); senior officers of the Jammu and Kashmir Energy Development Agency (JAKEDA); and Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Manoj Kumar Pandit, attended the meeting.
