Baramulla: The Under-15 Inter-District Provincial Level Boys’ Subroto Cup Football Tournament 2026 got underway at St Joseph’s Higher Secondary School, Baramulla, on Monday, with six districts competing for the provincial title.
Organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS), Baramulla, the tournament was inaugurated by the Principal of the host school in the presence of District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla Mushtaq Ahmad Pampori, sports officials, coaches, teachers and spectators.
The participating teams are from Baramulla, Shopian, Kulgam, Budgam, Srinagar and Anantnag.
In the opening match, Baramulla defeated Shopian 5-0, with Umer Farooq scoring a hat-trick. Tawqeer Hassan and Danish Maqbool added a goal each.
In the second match, Anantnag beat Kulgam 4-1 to begin its campaign with a win.
The tournament will continue over the coming days, with the winning team advancing to the next stage of the Subroto Cup 2026.
