JAMMU: Divisional Commissioner Jammu Ramesh Kumar on Friday launched the Jammu division leg of “Nasha Mukt Yuva for Viksit Bharat”, a nationwide campaign of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports being implemented through Mera Yuva Bharat (MY Bharat).
According to an official statement, the campaign aims to mobilise youth against substance abuse through awareness programmes, creative activities and community participation.
Speaking at the launch, the Divisional Commissioner said a drug-free society is the collective responsibility of all stakeholders and stressed that active participation of youth is essential to achieving the vision of a Nasha Mukt Bharat and Viksit Bharat. He also assured support for district-level events and urged young people to register on the MY Bharat portal to participate in the campaign.
As part of the initiative, debates, declamation, painting, slogan writing, quiz, folk song, folk dance and reel-making competitions will be organised across districts of the Union Territory, the statement said.
It added that Prime Minister Narendra Modi will address participants and administer the Nasha Mukt pledge, while the Union Home Minister will attend the Nasha Mukt Youth Conclave on August 14.
State Director, MY Bharat Jammu and Kashmir, Nitin Hangloo thanked the Divisional Commissioner for launching the campaign poster and reiterated the organisation’s commitment to engaging youth in the anti-drug campaign.
Among those present were Dean Students Welfare, University of Jammu, Prof. Prakash Anthal; Sports Administrator and MY Bharat Ambassador for J&K Ranjeet Kalra; and officials and volunteers of MY Bharat.
