SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Wednesday urged the Rotary Club of Kashmir to expand its role in youth empowerment, environmental conservation and the campaign against drug abuse while addressing the club’s installation ceremony.
Congratulating the newly elected office-bearers, the Lieutenant Governor said Rotary had played a significant role in public service and appreciated its medical initiatives across Jammu and Kashmir.
He urged the organisation to establish a professional guidance network connecting talented youth from remote areas with experienced professionals and to promote digital education and skill development.
Highlighting environmental protection as another priority, Sinha called for scientific and community-based conservation efforts, saying the organisation should work towards protecting rivers, lakes and forests in partnership with educational and research institutions.
The Lieutenant Governor also appealed to the Rotary Club to actively participate in the campaign for a drug-free Jammu and Kashmir by organising de-addiction camps, awareness programmes in educational institutions and skill development initiatives for youth.
The function was attended by Rotary District Governor Anil Kumar Singhal, Rotary Club of Kashmir President Dr Touseef Bhatt, outgoing President Jagjit Singh, other office-bearers, Vice-Chancellors of IUST and SKUAST-K, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar Akshay Labroo, SSP Srinagar G.V. Sundeep Chakravarthy, Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and Industry President Javid Ahmad Tenga, and other dignitaries.
