Budgam: Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Speaker Abdul Rahim Rather on Monday announced an ₹8.50 crore bridge over Nallah Shaliganga at Reswani Tilwandagi, Drygam, and ₹81 lakh for the development and beautification of the historic Drygam Shrine in Budgam district.

During his visit to the shrine associated with Hazrat Alamdar Sheikh Noor Din Noorani (RA), Rather reviewed the ongoing beautification works and said the sanctioned funds would help preserve the site’s historical and religious significance while improving facilities for devotees and visitors.

The Speaker directed the concerned officials to prepare the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the proposed bridge at the earliest so that construction could begin in a time-bound manner.

Addressing the gathering, Rather expressed concern over what he described as the long neglect of the area despite its historical and religious importance. He assured the public that every effort would be made to accelerate development and address genuine public demands.

He also interacted with local residents, who raised various developmental issues. The Speaker assured them that their genuine demands would be taken up in a phased manner.

Later, Rather visited the Ziyarat of noted Sufi poet Samad Mir at Nambalhar, where he reviewed ongoing development works. Officials informed him that ₹1.20 crore had already been sanctioned for the project.

The Speaker directed the concerned departments to expedite the work and ensure its completion within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining quality standards, according to an official statement.
