Baramulla: Police in Baramulla on Saturday seized three vehicles allegedly involved in the illegal transportation of mining material during separate enforcement drives across the district.
According to a police statement, a tipper (JK08B-6274) was intercepted and seized by Police Post Mirgund for allegedly transporting mining material without valid authorisation.
In another operation, police seized a dumper (JK05J-9110) for allegedly transporting mining material illegally.
In a separate action at Tapper, another dumper (JK05Q-1715), driven by Maqsood Ahmad Thaker, son of Mohammad Sulaiman of Boniyar, was also seized for allegedly transporting mineral resources in violation of mining regulations.
Police said all the cases had been reported to the Department of Geology and Mining, and legal proceedings under the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) Act had been initiated in coordination with the department.
