“There is still one day left in the summer break. We are assessing the weather conditions, and the government will take a call on extending the vacation soon,” Itoo said.

She said the health and well-being of students remain the government’s top priority. “There is no doubt that weather conditions in Kashmir are changing. For us, the health of students is more important than anything else,” she added.

The government had earlier announced summer vacations for all schools in the Kashmir Division and winter zones of the Jammu Division from July 6 to July 19.

Meanwhile, the Meteorological Department has forecast the prevailing heatwave to continue till July 19 and warned of heavy rainfall and the possibility of flash floods between July 20 and July 23.—(KNO)
