Deputy Commissioner Shopian Shishir Gupta gave a presentation on the physical and financial progress of flagship schemes and development initiatives being implemented in the district.

According to an official statement, the meeting reviewed the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes, including MPLADS, MGNREGA, PMAY-G, PMGSY, PMAY-U, Swachh Bharat Mission, Holistic Agriculture Development Programme (HADP), Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), POSHAN 2.0, Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, PM Vishwakarma, Samagra Shiksha, PM Surya Ghar and other welfare and development programmes.

The committee also reviewed the status of key infrastructure projects, including Shopian town beautification, decongestion works, development of adjoining villages, tribal welfare projects, the 50-bedded Critical Care Block, District Integrated Public Health Laboratory, road connectivity projects, water supply schemes and irrigation works.

Mian Altaf stressed the need for timely completion of ongoing projects, greater public awareness of government schemes and improved delivery of public services. He called for special focus on agriculture and allied sectors, sheep husbandry, tribal welfare and employment generation to maximise benefits for the people.

The MP also urged officials to expedite disposal of claims under the Forest Rights Act and improve civic amenities, road connectivity and facilities for tourists and commuters, particularly along the Mughal Road.

During the meeting, the MLAs raised constituency-specific issues relating to infrastructure, healthcare, education, drinking water, irrigation and the pace of ongoing developmental works.

Responding to the concerns, the MP assured the legislators that genuine issues would be taken up with the concerned departments and higher authorities for timely redressal. He directed the district administration to address the issues in a coordinated and time-bound manner, the statement added.
