Srinagar: Several political and social leaders and activists from the Lasjan area of Srinagar joined the Apni Party on Thursday in the presence of party president Syed Mohammad Altaf Bukhari.
According to a party statement, those who joined included National Conference’s Lasjan block president Latif Ahmad, Sameer Malik, Shabir Ahmad Mir, Mushtaq Ahmad, Fayaz Ahmad Mir, Mir Gulshan, Zahoor Ahmad, Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir and others.
Addressing the gathering at the party headquarters in Srinagar, Bukhari said the Apni Party was committed to serving the people of Jammu and Kashmir and safeguarding their rights.
Referring to the developments following the constitutional changes of August 5, 2019, Bukhari claimed that the party had engaged with the Union leadership on issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir and alleged that its efforts contributed to protecting land and job rights and securing the release of over 3,000 detainees.
He urged people to strengthen the Apni Party, saying it would continue to work for peace, development and the protection of the rights and interests of the people.
The new entrants expressed confidence in the party’s leadership and policies, the statement added.
