Katra: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday reviewed ongoing development works in Udhampur and Katra, including progress on the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway, and visited an injured Army soldier undergoing treatment at the Northern Command Hospital in Udhampur.
According to an official statement, the Deputy Chief Minister met Subedar Rakesh Kumar of 1st JAKLI, interacted with the attending doctors and reviewed his medical condition. He directed the hospital authorities to ensure the best possible treatment and also met the soldier’s family members, assuring them of the government’s support.
Later, Choudhary inspected the Domail–Katra stretch of the Delhi–Amritsar–Katra Expressway and directed the executing agencies to ensure timely completion of the project while maintaining quality and safety standards.
The Deputy Chief Minister also held public outreach programmes at various locations in Katra, where he heard grievances and demands raised by local residents and directed the concerned officers to address genuine issues in a time-bound manner.
He reiterated the government’s commitment to transparent and people-centric governance, stating that regular field visits and public interaction were essential for effective implementation of development projects and prompt redressal of grievances.
The visit was attended by the Engineer-in-Chief, Superintending Engineers, Executive Engineers, senior district administration officials and former Panchayati Raj Institution representatives, the statement added.
