Jammu: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Monday conducted surprise inspections of the offices of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana (PMGSY), Jammu and Kashmir Projects Construction Corporation (JKPCC) and Design Inspection and Quality Control (DIQC) in Jammu to review their functioning and assess the progress of developmental works.
The Deputy Chief Minister first visited the PMGSY office at Bikram Chowk, where he reviewed the department’s overall functioning and took stock of the status of ongoing road projects. He directed officers to ensure timely completion of works while strictly adhering to prescribed quality standards.
Emphasising that improved road connectivity is essential for the socio-economic development of the region, Choudhary called upon officials to work with dedication, accountability and professionalism. He also interacted with officers and staff, stressing the importance of transparency, efficiency and responsiveness in departmental functioning.
He directed that all projects be completed within the stipulated timelines without compromising on quality.
Later, the Deputy Chief Minister inspected the offices of JKPCC and DIQC at Panama Chowk, where he reviewed the operational efficiency of both departments and assessed the progress of various ongoing projects.
Highlighting the need to strengthen institutional accountability, Choudhary directed officers to maintain office discipline, ensure regular monitoring of projects and uphold the highest standards of quality during execution. He said effective supervision and timely completion of works are crucial for improving public service delivery and meeting people’s expectations.
He also stressed the need for greater efficiency, transparency and accountability in the functioning of government departments.
