Srinagar: Divisional Commissioner Kashmir Anshul Garg on Saturday appealed to unregistered pilgrims undertaking the Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra to wait until they complete the mandatory registration process and are issued RFID cards.
Addressing a press conference, Garg said some pilgrims had arrived in Kashmir before their allotted date of pilgrimage, while others had reached the Valley without completing the mandatory online registration process.
He said such pilgrims would not be allowed to proceed towards the Holy Cave until they fulfilled the prescribed formalities, including obtaining valid registration and RFID cards.
Garg said online registration for the pilgrimage had remained open till April 15, but many devotees who could not register within the stipulated period had subsequently reached Kashmir hoping to undertake the yatra.
“We are informing all such yatris that they will have to wait. They cannot be permitted to undertake the pilgrimage without completing the prescribed registration process,” he said.
The Divisional Commissioner said nearly 26,000 pilgrims had paid obeisance at the Holy Cave during the first two days of the yatra and described the pilgrimage as smooth and well-managed.
He added that, in compliance with directions of the Supreme Court, a ceiling has been fixed on the number of pilgrims permitted to undertake the yatra each day, and only those who have completed the mandatory registration process are being allowed to proceed.
Garg appealed to devotees to cooperate with the administration and follow the prescribed procedures to ensure the safe and orderly conduct of the annual pilgrimage.
