SRINAGAR: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies & Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services & Sports, and Science & Technology, Satish Sharma on Friday met several public delegations from across Jammu and Kashmir, heard their grievances and assured time-bound redressal.

A delegation representing 118 lessees of the Brick & Tile Factory Industrial Estate, Pampore, highlighted the prolonged delay in the allotment of industrial land, saying the issue has remained unresolved for nearly four years despite completion of the required formalities, affecting entrepreneurship, employment generation and industrial growth.

The Minister assured the delegation that the matter would be taken up with the concerned authorities and every effort would be made to resolve it within the framework of rules. He said the government is committed to promoting entrepreneurship and ensuring that genuine investors are not made to suffer because of procedural delays.

Satish Sharma also met a delegation of the Fair Price Shop Association, which raised issues related to the functioning of ration depots, timely release of commissions and other operational matters concerning the Public Distribution System. He assured the members that their genuine demands would be examined sympathetically and appropriate measures taken to strengthen the delivery of essential commodities.

A delegation of the Kerosene Dealers Association also called on the Minister and highlighted issues affecting dealers and consumers. Sharma said the concerns would be discussed with the concerned authorities to find practical solutions.

Representatives of NYCs submitted a memorandum regarding issues related to their welfare and functioning. The Minister assured them that their demands would be examined on merit.

Several other delegations and individuals from different districts also projected issues relating to public infrastructure, civic amenities, sports facilities, consumer affairs, road connectivity, drinking water supply, electricity and other developmental matters.

Interacting with the delegations, Sharma said the Omar Abdullah-led government is committed to responsive and people-centric governance through direct public engagement. He said grievances are being addressed on priority through coordinated action among departments.

The Minister assured all the delegations that the issues raised would be taken up with the concerned departments for appropriate action, reiterating the government’s commitment to public welfare and inclusive development.
