According to the party, participants unanimously endorsed NC president Dr Farooq Abdullah’s decision to organise a protest at Jantar Mantar in New Delhi, saying it would project the demand for the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood at the national level.

The meeting reiterated the party’s position that the restoration of statehood is a constitutional and democratic right of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. It also referred to the Union Government’s assurances before Parliament and the Supreme Court regarding the restoration of statehood, stating that there should be no further delay in implementing the commitment.

The party said it would continue its democratic and peaceful campaign for the restoration of statehood and constitutional guarantees.

The meeting also finalised arrangements for observing the death anniversary of Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah on July 11 and Martyrs’ Day on July 13.

Party leaders paid tributes to Begum Akbar Jehan Abdullah for her contributions to social welfare, education and public service, and remembered the martyrs of Jammu and Kashmir, saying their sacrifices would continue to inspire future generations.
