KULGAM: Member of Parliament from the Anantnag-Rajouri constituency Mian Altaf Ahmad on Thursday chaired a meeting of the District Development Coordination and Monitoring Committee (DISHA) in Kulgam to review the implementation of centrally sponsored schemes and developmental programmes.
Before the meeting, the MP visited the Drug De-addiction Centre to review patient care facilities and the Mission YUVA Small Business Development Unit (SBDU) to assess initiatives promoting entrepreneurship and self-employment among youth.
The meeting was attended by MLA Devsar Peerzada Feroze Ahmad Shah, Deputy Commissioner Shahzad Alam, senior district officers and heads of various departments.
Mian Altaf reviewed the implementation of key schemes, including PMAY-G, PMAY-U, Jal Jeevan Mission (JJM), the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) and PMGSY. The Deputy Commissioner briefed the meeting on the progress of various programmes through a detailed presentation.
The MP stressed the need for better coordination among departments, timely execution of projects and ensuring that the benefits of welfare schemes reach eligible beneficiaries. He also reviewed staff shortages in the Health and Education departments and called for filling vacant posts to improve public service delivery.
Emphasising greater public outreach, Mian Altaf urged departments to intensify awareness campaigns so that more people can benefit from government schemes.
During the meeting, MLA Devsar raised several development issues concerning his constituency and sought their timely redressal.
The MP also distributed sanction letters among beneficiaries under various government schemes and interacted with members of the public during a grievance redressal session, assuring them that their genuine concerns would be taken up with the concerned authorities.
Later, he visited departmental exhibition stalls, the Digital Centre of Excellence and the UMEED Self-Help Group Canteen, appreciating the efforts being made towards digital empowerment and women-led livelihood initiatives.
