Jammu: Minister for Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Information Technology, Youth Services and Sports, Science and Technology, and ARI and Trainings, Satish Sharma, on Monday flagged off a pilgrimage to the Somnath Temple in Gujarat from Jammu Railway Station.
The pilgrimage was organised by the Department of Culture as part of initiatives aimed at promoting cultural and spiritual exchanges.
Speaking on the occasion, Sharma said pilgrimages play an important role in promoting cultural awareness, national integration and interaction among people from different parts of the country. He wished the pilgrims a safe and successful journey.
The minister appreciated the arrangements made by the Department of Culture and other agencies for the smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
He also highlighted the importance of preserving the cultural heritage of Jammu and Kashmir and encouraged greater participation in initiatives showcasing India’s shared spiritual and cultural traditions.
Principal Secretary, Culture, Secretary of the Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), and senior officers of the Culture Department and civil administration were present at the flag-off ceremony.
