Drug peddler held in Handwara

Srinagar: Police in Handwara arrested a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession, a police spokesperson informed Monday.

He said during routine checking, police intercepted and apprehended Firdous Ahmad Bhat of Magam at Shogpora Magam. During his personal search, officers recovered Ganja-like (marijuana) substance from his possession, exposing his involvement in illegal narcotics trafficking.

A case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act (8/20) has been registered at Police Station Handwara, and investigation has been initiated to unearth further links in the narcotics network, police said.
