Srinagar: Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Pulwama and Anantnag and recovered a significant quantity of contraband substances from their possession, a police spokesperson informed Saturday.
In Pulwama, police during checking at Kakapora Bridge, intercepted and later arrested one Muzamil Gul of Samboora. During the search, 1.460 kg of charas (in stick form) and 2.5 grams of brown sugar-like substance were recovered from his possession.
In Anantnag, police intercepted a motorcycle (JK03B-55130) at Hugam Crossing, and seized it after approximately 6.09 grams of cannabis was recovered from its rider — Huzaif Bhat, resident of Poshkreeri. Huzaif Bhat was also arrested as he also appeared to be under the influence of narcotic and psychotropic substances. He was subsequently taken to a hospital for a preliminary medical examination, where he tested positive for consumption of narcotic drugs.
Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered at respective police stations and further investigation has been taken up to trace the source and intended destination of the contraband.
