During the meeting, the minister announced the establishment of an Eklavya Model Residential School (EMRS) at Ahlan Breng, saying the institution would improve access to quality education for students from tribal and other marginalised communities in the area.

Rana said Anantnag district has a significant tribal population and stressed the need to strengthen educational infrastructure in tribal-dominated and remote areas. He described education as a key driver of socio-economic development and reiterated the government’s commitment to improving educational opportunities for underprivileged sections of society.

Reviewing the functioning of the Jal Shakti, Forest and Tribal Affairs departments, the minister called for greater inter-departmental coordination to ensure effective implementation of development programmes and optimum utilisation of resources.

The meeting also discussed issues related to the implementation of the Forest Rights Act (FRA). Rana directed officials to follow prescribed procedures while processing FRA-related cases and emphasised the need for transparency, due diligence and adherence to established norms.

He also reviewed flood protection and irrigation projects being executed in the constituency and stressed timely completion of ongoing works to safeguard agricultural land and improve irrigation facilities.

The minister directed officials to implement decisions taken during the meeting in a transparent and accountable manner and to address constituency-specific development issues at the earliest.

Senior officers briefed the minister on the progress achieved under various schemes and programmes in Dooru constituency.
