Anantnag: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Anantnag, Amod Ashok Nagpure, and SSP Kulgam, Anayat Ali Chowdhary, on Wednesday chaired separate meetings to review security and administrative arrangements for the forthcoming Shri Amarnath Ji Yatra (SANJY)-2026.
At Anantnag, Nagpure convened a meeting of Zonal and Sector Officers deployed along the yatra route and at other designated locations. Discussions focused on operational planning, coordination among agencies and preparedness for the annual pilgrimage.
The SSP briefed officers on their roles and responsibilities and directed them to strictly adhere to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). He stressed the importance of constant vigilance, effective supervision and close coordination with all stakeholders involved in the yatra.
Nagpure also emphasised proactive policing, efficient communication and effective crowd management, directing officers to remain prepared to respond promptly to any situation. He instructed field officers to maintain round-the-clock alertness, conduct regular inspections and ensure timely reporting of developments to facilitate the safe and smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.
Meanwhile, SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Chowdhary chaired a joint security review meeting at Anantnag Railway Station with senior officers of the Police, Army, CRPF and BSF to assess deployment plans and security arrangements for the yatra.
The meeting was attended by the Commanding Officers of 1 Rashtriya Rifles, 18 Battalion CRPF, 46 Battalion CRPF and Adhoc KS-18 BSF, besides Additional SP Kulgam, Additional SP NHW Qazigund, Zonal Officers of Zones 06 and 07, DySP PC Mirbazar, SDPO Railway Anantnag and other senior officers.
Discussions centred on security measures, communication networks, traffic regulation on the national highway and other roads, vehicle parking arrangements and deployment of security personnel for the safety of pilgrims and the general public.
Chowdhary directed officers to pay special attention to sensitive locations and ensure adequate deployment of personnel to address vulnerabilities and plug any gaps. He asked officers to revisit and fine-tune security plans at the zonal level and called for enhanced focus on Road Opening Parties (ROPs), lateral deployments and law-and-order arrangements to counter potential threats and meet operational challenges during the pilgrimage.
