Inter-zonal U-14 boys’ kabaddi championship begins in Baramulla

BARAMULLA: The Department of Youth Services and Sports (DYSS) Baramulla on Tuesday launched the Inter-Zonal District Level Kabaddi Championship for Under-14 boys at Boys Higher Secondary School (BHSS), Baramulla.

The tournament was inaugurated by the Principal of BHSS Baramulla in the presence of District Youth Services and Sports Officer (DYSSO) Baramulla, departmental officials, technical staff, team managers and participating players.

A total of 14 zonal teams from different educational zones of the district are taking part in the championship, which is being conducted in a league format.

Speaking on the occasion, the Principal highlighted the importance of sports in promoting discipline, leadership qualities and overall personality development among students, and urged participants to uphold the spirit of fair play and sportsmanship.

The DYSSO Baramulla said the department remains committed to providing opportunities for young athletes to showcase their talent and develop their sporting skills. He noted that district-level competitions play an important role in identifying promising players for higher-level events.

The opening day witnessed enthusiastic participation and several competitive matches among the participating teams.

The championship will continue over the coming days, with teams competing for top honours and a chance to qualify for higher-level competitions.
