The initiative received an encouraging response from visitors, many of whom appreciated the university’s gesture of service and community engagement.

Vice Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan said the University of Kashmir has always upheld the values of social responsibility, inclusiveness and community service. She said the social service camp reflected the institution’s commitment to promoting compassion, harmony and social cohesion.

Prof. Khan particularly appreciated the active participation of students, describing it as a reflection of the spirit of volunteerism and service that lies at the heart of higher education.

Registrar Prof. Naseer Iqbal said universities are not only centres of learning but also institutions that nurture responsible citizenship and public service. He said such outreach programmes help students engage with society, appreciate its diversity and contribute positively to the common good.

Dean Students’ Welfare Prof. Seema Singh said the camp was conceived as an opportunity for students to participate in a meaningful act of service while developing leadership, teamwork, discipline and a sense of responsibility. She added that the Department would continue to organise activities that promote personal growth and community engagement among students.

Cultural Officer Dr. Shahid Ali Khan said the university’s participation in the Kheer Bhawani Mela was aimed at supporting devotees while providing students with exposure to the rich cultural traditions and pluralistic heritage of Jammu and Kashmir.

Student volunteers described the experience as enriching and rewarding. The Department of Students’ Welfare thanked all volunteers, officials and devotees for their cooperation in making the initiative successful.
