KPDCL announces power shutdowns across Kashmir for maintenance works

SRINAGAR: Chief Engineer, Distribution, Kashmir Power Distribution Corporation Limited (KPDCL), has announced a series of scheduled power shutdowns across several districts of Kashmir to facilitate maintenance and repair works on various 33 kV transmission lines.

According to the department, a shutdown of the 33 kV GIS Tengpora–Exhibition (Tapline) Cargo portion will be observed on June 28, 2026. As a result, power supply to HSHS Market, Batamaloo, PCR Batamaloo, Firdousabad, Sarai Bala and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Similarly, shutdown of the 33 kV Wanpoh–Qazigund line and 33 kV Kulgam–Yaripora line will be observed on June 22, 2026. Consequently, power supply to Mir Bazar, Vessu, Qazigund, Kund, Chowgam, Akhran, Razloo, Bonigam, Yaripora, Parigam, Tarigam, Behibagh, Daderkoot and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

The department further informed that shutdown of the 33 kV Wanpoh–Qaimoh line will be carried out on June 20 and June 23, 2026. Power supply to Qaimoh, Redwani and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM on both days.

Likewise, shutdown of the 33 kV Wanpoh–Ashajipora/Malaknag Double Circuit line will be observed on June 20, 2026. As a result, power supply to Ashajipora, Dialgam, Rohu, Mirbazar, Schichen, Brinty, Malaknag, Reshi Bazar, Janglatmandi, Shirpora, BB Nowgam, Thajiwara, Brakpora and adjoining areas will remain affected during the shutdown period.

In Kupwara district, shutdown of the 33 kV Handwara Hot–Kupwara Old line and 33 kV Hyhama–Dolipora line will be observed on June 23, 2026. Power supply to Handwara Town, Chogal, Kulangam, Sagipora, Marathgam, the entire Lolab and Machil valleys, Trehgam, Hayan, Zurhama, Hyhama, Gushie, Deedikot, Dolipora, Magam, Vilgam and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

Additionally, shutdown of the 33 kV Handwara Old–Kupwara Hot line will be observed on June 25, 2026. Consequently, power supply to Zachaldara, Rajwar, Hangah, Haril, Lach, Kupwara Town, DC Office, Drugmulla, Nagri, Batergam, Gulgam and adjoining areas will remain affected from 8:00 AM to 2:00 PM.

KPDCL has advised consumers in the affected areas to plan accordingly and cooperate during the maintenance works aimed at strengthening the power distribution network and ensuring reliable electricity supply.
