SRINAGAR: MLA Pampore Justice Hasnain Masoodi has urged Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary to facilitate the opening of the Pampore–Khanda sector of the Ring Road for public movement to mitigate traffic congestion and ease commuter hardship.

The request comes in the wake of repair and maintenance work on the Nowgam Bypass Bridge, which has led to heavy traffic congestion and inconvenience for commuters travelling along the route.

In his appeal, Justice Masoodi emphasized that opening the Pampore–Khanda stretch of the Ring Road on a temporary basis would provide substantial relief to the public by reducing travel delays and ensuring smoother vehicular movement during the period of maintenance work.

He said the measure would help decongest existing routes and offer an alternative passage to commuters facing difficulties due to traffic restrictions and diversions caused by the bridge repairs.

Justice Masoodi expressed hope that the government would take timely and necessary action in the larger public interest and for the convenience of commuters.

The National Conference leader said the proposed move would significantly ease the burden on daily travellers and contribute to better traffic management until the completion of the ongoing repair works on the Nowgam Bypass Bridge.
