The accused have been identified as Tariq Ahmad Ganie, a Junior Engineer in the J&K Housing Board, and his wife, Rukhsana Jan, an Anganwadi worker in the ICDS Department. Both are residents of Aali Gund Chandergam, Tral.

The case originated from a verification conducted by the ACB into allegations that the junior engineer had acquired assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. The verification reportedly revealed large financial transactions amounting to several crores of rupees in various bank accounts linked to the accused.

The ACB said that the investigation carried out by Police Station ACB Srinagar substantiated the allegations against both the public servant and his wife.

After obtaining the requisite sanction for prosecution from the competent authority, the bureau filed the charge-sheet before the Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, for judicial determination.

The court has fixed July 8, 2026, as the next date of hearing in the case.
