Srinagar: The Economic Offences Wing (EOW) Kashmir of the Crime Branch Jammu and Kashmir on Saturday conducted searches in Shopian and Pulwama districts in connection with an investigation into the alleged manipulation of date-of-birth entries in official service records.
According to officials, the searches were carried out as part of an ongoing probe into a case registered under relevant provisions of law concerning the alleged fraudulent insertion and alteration of date-of-birth records to secure undue benefits.
The search operation was conducted at the office of the Deputy Chief Medical Officer, Shopian, as well as at his residence in Thamuna area of Pulwama district.
Officials said documents and other materials linked to the investigation are being scrutinised as part of the probe.
The searches were conducted in accordance with legal procedures and in the presence of independent witnesses.
The investigation is ongoing, and further action will be taken based on the findings emerging from the examination of the seized records and other evidence collected during the searches.
