Jammu:  Claiming that Jammu and Kashmir has undergone a major transformation under Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the J&K BJP on Friday highlighted the government’s achievements in the past 12 years, including the abrogation of Article 370 in August 2019.

The BJP organised a special programme titled ’12 Saal Bemisal’ to mark the Modi government’s 12 years in office, which was attended by J&K BJP president and Rajya Sabha MP Sat Sharma, Jammu-Reasi MP Jugal Kishore Sharma, Leader of Opposition Sunil Sharma, party MLAs and senior leaders.

Addressing the gathering, Sunil Sharma congratulated Prime Minister Modi on completing 12 years in office, and said the BJP government has laid the foundation for achieving the goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047.

“It is not just 12 years of governance but also a vision of leadership and progress, which will be written as a golden chapter in history,” he said.

Criticising the governments of the pre-Modi era, he alleged that the period was marked by corruption and weak governance, which Modi changed through his decisive leadership.

Referring to J&K, the LoP claimed that separatism and terrorism declined significantly during BJP’s tenure, with no local youth recruited by terrorist outfits in the last 18 months.

Jugal Kishore Sharma said Prime Minister Modi has elevated India’s stature globally and made the country proud on international platforms.

Sat Sharma said that India under Modi has emerged as a confident nation that would not bow before challenges.

He also expressed confidence that the country is steadily moving towards becoming a developed nation by 2047, and called upon citizens to contribute to nation-building.

In his concluding remarks, BJP chief spokesperson Sunil Sethi said a comparison of India before and after 2014 reflects significant changes across sectors.

He credited the Modi government with promoting self-confidence among citizens and said the prime minister’s governance model focuses on the welfare of all sections of society.

A 15-minute documentary showcasing the achievements and initiatives of the Modi government over the past 12 years was screened on the occasion.
