Srinagar: A special police officer was ‘disengaged’ from service in Baramulla district for his alleged involvement in an NDPS case, police said on Wednesday.
Baramulla Police has disengaged SPO Khalid Nazir Khan, a resident of Katipora, Tangmarg, from the SPO cadre with immediate effect following his involvement in an NDPS case, a police spokesman said.
He said that during naka checking at Wussan Crossing in Kunzer area of the north Kashmir district on April 23 this year, police intercepted a vehicle.
The occupants in the vehicle, including the SPO, were found in a suspicious condition, the spokesman said, adding that during checking, among syringes and needles, the police also recovered a silver foil paper used for the consumption of narcotic substances.
Subsequently, a case was registered under Sections 8, 27 and 29 of the NDPS Act, he said.
In view of the serious involvement and conduct unbecoming of a member of a “disciplined force”, the SPO has been disengaged from service with immediate effect, the spokesman added.
