He said properties worth approximately Rs 3 crore belonging to Gulam Ahmad Dar were attached by Sangam police.

“The attached assets include a residential house, land and commercial shops. Investigation established that the properties were acquired through proceeds of narcotics trafficking,” the spokesperson said.

In another case, Nowhatta police attached a residential property worth approximately Rs 1 crore belonging to Mohammad Shafi Sheikh, he said, adding that the property was identified as an illegally acquired asset generated through drug trafficking.

The attachments were carried out under the relevant provisions of the NDPS Act to prevent concealment, transfer or disposal of properties derived from illicit narcotics trade, he said.

Police in Sopore also attached “illegally acquired properties” worth over ₹66 lakh belonging to two “notorious” drug peddlers under the provisions of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The attached properties belong to Zahoor Ahmad Shah of Hanfia Colony, Arampora Sopore, involved in FIR No. 143/2015 of PS Sopore and FIR No. 24/2023 of PS Tarzoo under the NDPS Act; and Manzoor Ahmad Baba of Magraypora Sopore, involved in FIR No. 184/2023 of PS Sopore under the NDPS Act.

During financial investigations, Police identified assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of illicit narcotics trafficking. The properties were found to be disproportionate to the known sources of income of the accused persons.
