New Delhi: Leader of Opposition in the Jammu & Kashmir Legislative Assembly, Sunil Sharma, on Saturday met Union Home Minister Amit Shah in New Delhi and discussed various issues concerning Jammu and Kashmir.

According to a statement, the two leaders held detailed deliberations on the prevailing security scenario, law and order situation, developmental initiatives and the overall political landscape of the Union Territory.

During the meeting, Sunil Sharma apprised the Union Home Minister of issues and concerns emerging from the ground and highlighted public aspirations regarding peace, development and effective governance.

The discussions also reviewed ongoing efforts of the Government of India to strengthen security, promote inclusive development and deepen democratic institutions at the grassroots level. Both leaders emphasized the need to consolidate developmental gains and ensure that the benefits of growth reach all sections of society.

Amit Shah assured Sharma that the Central Government, under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, remains committed to ensuring lasting peace, strengthening security, accelerating development and safeguarding the interests of the people of Jammu and Kashmir. He also assured continued support for the overall progress and prosperity of the Union Territory.

Sunil Sharma reiterated the Bharatiya Janata Party’s commitment to the welfare of the people of Jammu and Kashmir and said the Union Territory has witnessed significant progress in development, transparency and empowerment under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.

The meeting, according to the statement, reflected the BJP leadership’s continued focus on peace, security and holistic development in Jammu and Kashmir while addressing the concerns and expectations of its citizens.
