SRINAGAR: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha is closely monitoring the situation arising due to flash floods triggered by heavy rainfall in Kishtwar and Doda districts. He has spoken with the Deputy Commissioners of both districts and directed them to remain on high alert and ensure the prompt restoration of essential services.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor said he had reviewed the situation with the district administrations and instructed emergency response teams to continuously monitor developments on the ground.

“Spoke with Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar and Doda regarding the flash floods caused by heavy rainfall. Fortunately, no loss of life or property damage has been reported. Emergency response teams have been directed to remain on high alert and continuously monitor the situation,” the Lieutenant Governor posted.

He further stated that he has directed the Deputy Commissioners of Kishtwar and Doda to ensure the swift restoration of roads, highways and water pipelines affected by the adverse weather conditions.

The Lieutenant Governor said that field staff and specialised medical teams have been placed on high alert, while damage assessment exercises will commence as soon as field verification is completed.

Meanwhile, expressing grief over the loss of life caused by a lightning strike, Sinha conveyed his condolences to the family of Pinki Devi of Khuddhar in Doda district.

“My sincere condolences to the bereaved family of Pinki Devi from Khuddhar Doda, who tragically passed away due to a lightning strike. The Deputy Commissioner of Doda has been directed to provide immediate relief and assistance to the family,” he said.
