Jammu: Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP), Jammu, Joginder Singh on Friday reviewed security and logistical arrangements at the Bhagwati Nagar base-camp here, ahead of the annual Amarnath Yatra scheduled to commence on July 3.

The 57-day pilgrimage will commence July 3 on the twin routes — the traditional 48-km Nunwan-Pahalgam track in Anantnag district, and the steep 14-km Baltal trek in Ganderbal — and will conclude on Raksha Bandhan on August 28.

During his visit to the base-camp, the SSP conducted a comprehensive inspection of the security deployment and instructed officials and personnel to ensure smooth conduct of the pilgrimage.

Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) and civil administration officials also attended the review meeting, where detailed discussions were held on the overall security strategy, crowd management, traffic regulation, surveillance measures, emergency response preparedness and inter-agency coordination.

The SSP directed officers to ensure timely completion of all arrangements, and directed strict vigil and coordination throughout the yatra period.

He also stressed the need for proper facilities, smooth movement and hassle-free assistance for pilgrims arriving at the base-camp.

Officers were instructed to work in close coordination with all stakeholder agencies to provide a safe, secure and comfortable environment to devotees undertaking the annual pilgrimage.
