Srinagar: Police in Ganderbal apprehended a drug peddler and recovered contraband substance from his possession.
Sharing details, a police spokesperson said that at a checkpoint established at Dignibal near the Old Water Supply Scheme, Bakura, police intercepted and later arrested one Abrar Ahmad Parray of Nagbal Ganderbal after ‘Bhung Patri powder’ (Ganja-like substance) was recovered from his possession.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Ganderbal for further investigation.
Police also said it has destroyed an illicit poppy cultivation in village Wandhama. Preliminary enquiry revealed that the land was in possession of Muzaffar Ahmad Koul of Wandhama, who had allegedly cultivated the contraband crop.
Accordingly, a case under relevant sections of the NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Lar, and further investigation is underway.
