Srinagar: A youth was killed and three others injured after an Eco Sports vehicle crashed into a divider and plunged into Dal Lake along Srinagar’s Foreshore Road on Tuesday night, officials said.
The accident took place at Lashkari Mohalla when the vehicle, bearing registration number JK01V-3260, reportedly went out of control, hit a divider and fell into the lake.
Four youths were travelling in the vehicle at the time of the accident.
Officials identified the deceased as Zameer Ahmad, son of Showkat Ahmad and a resident of Rainawari.
The injured occupants were rescued by personnel from Police Station Nishat and shifted to Sher i Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences for treatment.
SHO Nishat Parvez Ahmad said all four occupants were shifted to hospital, where one of them succumbed to injuries.
The accident triggered rescue operations in the area as police and local responders worked to evacuate the occupants from the submerged vehicle.
Police have taken cognisance of the incident and further investigation is underway. (KNT)
