Jammu, May 26: Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art Culture and Languages on Tuesday expressed grief over the demise of Abhinaya Bakaya, former Principal of the Institute of Music and Fine Arts, who passed away on May 23.
Abhinaya Bakaya was the daughter of late Moti Lal Kemmu, a noted theatre personality and cultural figure of Jammu and Kashmir.
In a statement, the Academy said Abhinaya Bakaya was widely respected for her contribution to music, fine arts and cultural education.
She was remembered for her dedication towards promotion of art and culture and for her role in nurturing students and supporting cultural activities in the region.
To pay tribute to the departed soul, a condolence meeting was held at the Academy premises where officers and officials of JKAACL observed a two-minute silence.
Participants recalled her contribution to cultural and educational initiatives and described her as a compassionate and inspiring personality.
Speaking on the occasion, Harvinder Kour expressed condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for peace to the departed soul.
Among those present at the condolence meeting were Javaid Rahi, Sanjeev Gupta, Bhupinder Singh and Anil Tickoo besides other officers and officials of the Academy.
