Srinagar: The NIA on Monday conducted raids at three locations in Jammu and Kashmir’s Srinagar and Shopian districts, including Darul Uloom Sirajul Uloom, which was declared an illegal entity last month.
The National Investigation Agency (NIA) sleuths carried out searches at the school in the Imam Sahib area of Shopian in the early hours, officials said. The institution imparts both religious and formal education to hundreds of students, they said.
They said another NIA team carried out searches at the residence of the former chief of the banned Jamaat-e-Islami, Shahzada Aurangzeb, at Molu Chitragam in the district. The central agency also conducted searches at Jamiat ul Banaat, a religious school for girls, in Srinagar’s Lal Bazar area.
Further details are awaited.
