Shopian: Under the banner of the “Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan,” the Department of Youth Services and Sports Jammu and Kashmir organised an Inter-School District Level Girls Under-19 Volleyball Tournament in Shopian on Monday.
The tournament was inaugurated by District Youth Services and Sports Officer Mohammad Ayoub Bhat.
The final match was played between Higher Secondary School Imam Sahib and Higher Secondary School Keegam, with players displaying sportsmanship, discipline and competitive spirit.
A large number of students and officials witnessed the final match.
Following the conclusion of the tournament, trophies were distributed among the winning and runner-up teams by the chief guest.
On the occasion, Mohammad Ayoub Bhat also administered the “Nasha Mukt” pledge to participants and officials, urging youth to stay away from drug abuse and adopt healthy lifestyles through sports and physical activities.
Alongside the district-level tournament, several sports activities were organised across different zones of Shopian district under the ongoing awareness campaign.
Zone Shopian organised a yoga session aimed at promoting physical and mental well-being among students, while Zone Imam Sahib conducted a volleyball match with active participation from youth.
Vehil Zone also hosted a girls’ chess competition to encourage indoor sports and intellectual development among young girls.
Officials said the activities were organised to strengthen sports culture, promote fitness and discipline and create awareness against drug abuse among youth in the district.
