Army Cheetah helicopter crashes near Leh; three officers survive

Leh: An Indian Army Cheetah helicopter crashed in the Tangtse area near Leh on Saturday, with all three Army officers onboard surviving the incident, officials said.

According to officials, the single-engine helicopter was being piloted by a Lieutenant Colonel and a Major at the time of the crash. Sachin Mehta, who was travelling in the helicopter, also survived the mishap.

Officials said the helicopter crashed in the mountainous Tangtse region, where Army helicopters frequently operate for transport and operational duties in high-altitude areas.

The condition of the officers and the exact circumstances leading to the crash were not immediately known.

Authorities are expected to conduct an inquiry to ascertain the cause of the incident. (KNT)
