The commission said the final electoral rolls were published on May 21, 2026, paving the way for forthcoming Panchayat elections in Jammu and Kashmir.

According to the commission, 3,39,384 new voters were added to the rolls during the revision exercise, while 1,13,344 names were deleted due to death, shifting, duplication and other admissible reasons.

The exercise also involved corrections in particulars of 17,664 voters and transposition of 31,590 voters.

The final Panchayat Electoral Roll now comprises 72,24,131 electors, including 36,62,502 male voters, 35,61,488 female voters and 141 third gender voters.

Officials said this reflects a net increase of 2,26,040 voters compared to the previous revision concluded in January 2025, when the electorate stood at 69,98,091.

The commission informed that a total of 5,10,285 forms were received during the revision period and processed by Panchayat Election Booth Officials, Assistant Electoral Registration Officers and Electoral Registration Officers.

To enhance voter awareness and participation, the SEC carried out extensive SVEEP campaigns through print and electronic media, including radio jingles, voter awareness advertisements and appeals by the State Election Commissioner.

District administrations also organised awareness activities through hoardings, mobile awareness vans and other voter outreach programmes.

State Election Commissioner Shantmanu appreciated the efforts of district officials, electoral staff, the Rural Development and Panchayati Raj Department Jammu and Kashmir and political party representatives for successful completion of the revision exercise.

He also lauded the enthusiastic participation of youth, whose enrolment significantly contributed to the addition of over 3.39 lakh new voters to the Panchayat Electoral Roll 2026.
