Uri: Deputy Chief Minister Surinder Choudhary on Wednesday visited Kaman Post in Uri and reviewed facilities and tourism potential in the border area.
During the visit, the deputy chief minister interacted with senior Army officers and inspected the Kaman Learning Centre, library and auditorium facilities established at the post.
He appreciated the initiatives aimed at promoting awareness, education and tourism in the border region.
Speaking on the occasion, Surinder Choudhary said Kaman Post has immense significance as a major attraction for border tourism and stressed the need for strengthening tourism-related activities in the area for the economic benefit of local residents.
Later, the deputy chief minister visited the National Hydroelectric Power Corporation power project in Uri and reviewed the functioning and power generation capacity of the hydroelectric project.
He interacted with senior officers and officials and took stock of various operational aspects of the project.
The deputy chief minister stressed the importance of ensuring greater participation of local youth in major national infrastructure and development projects.
He directed the concerned authorities to provide adequate employment opportunities to skilled and unskilled youth from the area, stating that such initiatives would contribute towards sustainable livelihood generation and economic empowerment of local communities.
Surinder Choudhary reiterated the government’s commitment towards inclusive development, strengthening border infrastructure and creating better opportunities for youth across Jammu and Kashmir.
